Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Arrival in the Morning
- Doors open at 7:45 am.
- Female Students must enter through Exit 1 and proceed directly to the cafeteria until 7:50 am.
- Male Students must enter through Exit 3 and proceed directly to the cafeteria until 7:50 am.
- Bus Students must enter through Exit 4 and proceed directly to the cafeteria until 7:50 am.
- Classrooms open at 7:55 am and class starts promptly at 8:00 am.
Visitors
- All visitors must have a valid I.D and be checked in by Security after entering through Exit 1.
- After being checked in by security, visitors must report directly to the main office.
- The front office will call the student down in order to go home. Visitors MUST sign out their child in the main office.
- Please note: Only contacts on the Student Information System will be allowed to sign a student out.
- All employees, contractors, and visitors must have their ID badge visible.
Dismissal
- Students will be released at 3:20 pm.
- There will be no early releases after 3:00 pm.
- Any student in after school Athletics, Credit Recovery, Enrichment, or Driver's Education must report to the large cafeteria from 3:30- 3:45 pm for supper.
- Any student NOT in after school activities must clear the building and campus by 3:30 pm.
Early Pick-up and Walk Home Procedures
If you need to PICK UP YOUR CHILD early from Cody we ask that you do the following:
- Visit Main Office First
- Show Valid ID - Your name must be on the student records - NO EXCEPTIONS
- ANYONE NOT on the Student Records will NOT be allowed to Pick Up Student - NO EXCEPTIONS
- Sign Student OUT in Main Office - A Log Book is provided
- Arrive BEFORE 3pm - NO EARLY PICKUPS will be granted after 3pm (unless you have been called by an administrator to pick up child)
- Students are NOT allowed to leave the building and be picked up outside. A Parent or Guardian MUST SIGN STUDENT OUT and Accompany them out of the building.
WALK HOME PASS Procedure:
At an ADMINISTRATORS Request ONLY, students are allowed to leave early with a SIGNED WALK HOME pass. Parents/Guardians and Administrators work together to assist in this procedure. As the student may NOT leave the building without this SIGNED DOCUMENT.

Cody Comets Dress for Success Expectations
The purpose of the dress code expectations are to ensure that each student is dressed in clothing conducive to promoting a positive learning environment and ultimately prepare them for success in their future career expectations.
Our school requires a uniform.
Our School Colors
Hunter Green, Pearl Gray, Gold
- * Color: All slacks and pants must be a solid color: Khaki (tan), navy blue, or black. (Leggings and tights are not allowed.)
- * Style: Slacks and pants can be pleated or flat front, full length and appropriately fastened at the waist.
- * Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, wool or fabric blends.
- * Belts: If the garment has belt loops a belt should be worn at all times
Tops/Shirts
9th graders - Yellow (Gold) polo
10th graders - Grey polo
11th graders - Green polo
12th graders - Black polo (also have the option of wearing their new Cody senior t-shirt or their new Cody senior fleece jacket)
- Shirts and blouses must have buttoned down or straight collars. Turtlenecks and polo styles are permitted. At the school’s discretion tops must be worn tucked inside pants, slacks, or skirts.
- Color: All students shall wear approved colors required by the school
- Style: Long and short sleeves with a collar required. Turtlenecks and polo styles permitted.
- Logos: Manufacturer trademarks, if any, must be one inch or less. DPSCD school logos are permitted and are not limited in size.
- Grade level t-shirts & polo tops will be sold in the school bookstore.
Skirts and Jumpers/Skirts
- Color: Khaki, navy blue and black, in a solid, single color.
- Style: Skirts must be at least knee length.
Jackets, Cardigans, and Sweaters
- Color: Should match an accepted uniform color.
- Style: All must be worn over a collared shirt, turtleneck, or polo style top.
- Students may wear sweatshirts without hoods that are solid in color and the same color of their uniform.
- No hoodies may be worn
- Hooded Jacket: Hoods are not to be worn (on the head) during the school day
- All jackets must be put in their locker
Footwear
- Style: Athletic shoes, laced shoes and/or other shoe boots, loafers, dress shoes, or other closed toed/closed heel shoes.
- Students are prohibited from wearing open-toed boots or shoes to school.
- Mules are inappropriate.
- NO CROCS!!!
- No flip-flops
- No slippers or slides

PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The PowerSchool Parent Portal provides parents with direct access to student data via the Internet. Using a confidential ID number and password provided by their child's school, parents can create their own PowerSchool account using a web browser or the PowerSchool app and view their child’s data, such as progress reports, attendance records, report cards, transcripts and more. During account creation, parents can create their own unique username and password. The credentials listed on the form from the school will link the student to their parent's account.
How to Log on to the Parent Portal:
- Open the URL: http://detroitk12.powerschool.com/public
- Enter Username and Password, click “Log In”
The first time you log in to the PowerSchool app on your phone or tablet, you will be asked to enter the District's unique four-digit code: PSNW
If you have not been issued a Username or Password, or are facing challenges with your password, please contact your school for the required login information.
CTE Transportation
Career and Technical Centers Bus Schedule
Take belongings with you. There will be no re-entry upon return to the school from CTE & no CTE classes on early dismissal days.
- Randolph CTC- Route # 795, Pick Up 11:30am (Exit 1)/Drop Off 3:20pm
- Briethaupt CTC- Route# 791 & 788, Pick Up 11:30am (Exit 1)/ Drop Off 3:33pm
* Please note: Cody is a closed campus. Students are not permitted to leave the building to pick up food. Students must go to A lunch BEFORE getting on the CTE bus.
D-DOT Transportation FAQs
The following are some frequently asked questions regarding D-DOT bus transportation.
How do I qualify for a D-DOT bus card for public transportation?
Free and reduced D-DOT bus cards will be distributed 2 weeks after start-up of student’s high school. The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Student must attend their neighborhood school.
- Student must receive meal benefits.
- Student must reside more than 1½ mile from the assigned school.
Reduced-fare passes may be available directly from the student’s neighborhood high school.
What can I use to ride the D-DOT bus at the beginning of the school year until bus cards are issued?
- Students with a bus card from last school year will be allowed to board D-DOT buses for the first 2 weeks of school until the new passes are issued at the free or reduced rate indicated on the card.
- Students with high school identification cards can ride the D-DOT for $0.75 cent each way until the new cards are issued within the first two weeks of school.
- All Students will be allowed to ride the D-DOT bus with no pass or student id for the first day of school only for the reduced fare price of $0.75 cent each way.
- Detroit Public Schools students who do not have a high school identification card or a bus card from last year will be issued a reduced fare card on the 1st day of school.
- EXAMPLE: 8th graders attending a new high school or others who may not have student identification but qualify for a free or reduced fare pass under the Districts Transportation policy. The pass will allow students to ride for $0.75 cent each way until new passes are issued on the 2nd week of school.
My student lost his/her D-DOT bus card. How does the student obtain a replacement bus card?
Notify the school of the need for a replacement card. The school forwards a request to Transportation who sends the school the replacement card. If another card needs to be replaced per students, it must be purchased from D-DOT at $136.50 per semester.
How do I get answers to school transportation questions?
Contact the Transportation Information Center at 313-945-8600. A Customer service agent will either answer your inquiry or direct your call to an individual who can best assist you.
PTA
The PTA is a primary parent organization that provides the district with a national, uniform, and well-resourced platform for parents and teachers to work together for the benefit of students. PTAs at each school create a clear strategy to ensure teachers and parents are working closer together to advocate for our schools and children.
