Peddling Towards Better Attendance At Cody

Peddling Towards Better Attendance At Cody

The Detroit Public Schools Community District has an amazing program "Peddling Towards Better Attendance". 25 Students were gifted bicycles on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.  The program was launched to assist in tackling the attendance issue throughout the district.  2 schools were given 25 bikes each: Osborn High School on the eastside of Detroit and Cody High School on the westside of Detroit. These students were excited and immediately ready to ride their bikes.  Students were chosen based off of their distance from home to Cody.  We wanted to make sure that the 25 students that were chosen would benefit from having a bike to ride to school everyday.

"I think it's a great incentive for our students that do struggle to get to school, especially the ones that have transportation issues and I think it is going to help." - Dawn Williams, Attendance Agent.

We're excited that Cody was chosen for such an amazing program.  This will surely help our students and we love that.  Together we rise, With purpose we lead, In excellence we achieve.
